The recipes can be looted from killed stalkers or bought from the friendly ones if they have it.

In order to craft a particular item, you need to know a recipe for it. Encrypted PDAs can be unlocked by any technician. You can find them across the world, but most likely you will find them in stashes - locations that are given as rewards for completing missions or reading enemies' PDAs. There are five types of tools in the game: basic, advanced, expert, drug-making, and gun-smithing. You can combine the multi-use items into one stack by drag-n-drop in your inventory. If you use Move All when filtered, only the items in that category will be moved. You can filter your inventory through the tabs on the bottom. The hotkey to the Take All button is Shift. They won't show the increase in protection after you put the artefact on. The bars on the bottom of inventory are bugged. For example, the artefact with '+70% chemical resistance' is only equal to +10% in suit comparison, or even less. The percentage shown in artefacts and pills has different meaning than the percentage shown when comparing suits. The 'Impact resistance' is about withstanding objects thrown at you or falling from heights. The 'Rupture resistance' is about withstanding mutant blows. The 'Ballistic resistance' of an armor is responsible for whether the bullet will penetrate it and how much blunt damage it will do if it didn't penetrate. The 'Handling' characteristic of a weapon defines how fast the spread of bullets constricts after you fire or move.
