If you could do that, you wouldn't need to since the remaining audio you would have from separating the hiss is exactly what you wanted anyway. but you can see where the logic fails here. You would need to remove the ENTIRE hiss from the recording, create a hiss track and then flip it. You can't take a 'piece' of the hiss, flip it and then expect it to cancel out the hiss everywhere because the actual hiss is very random in its waveform for any given moment in time.

The only way the phase cancellation works, is if the sound is reasonably isolated, flipped and kept in absolute sync. If the hiss is wideband, you probably need a noise reduction system, ( software or harware ) like Waves noise reduction, Backdrop, and other plugin packages. If the hiss is narrow band you might try a sidechain compressor. WAVES has good hiss removal capabilities. I copied the hiss along the soundtrack and reversed its phase but I didn't somehow achieve what I was trying -any ideas why it didn't work? I tried to cancel the hiss with phase cancellation trick.
